Paris

So far, this blog doesn’t really seem to have a theme, so I’m just going to roll with it and write about my trip to Paris.

I was lucky enough to be offered the chance to go out for a weekend in Paris for free (big up Matt and his hockey contacts). The deal involved me driving a variety of hockey equipment to Genvilles in Paris, leaving it at a hockey meet there and then spending the weekend in Paris. Matt’s hockey contact messaged him on Wednesday evening, asking us to leave on the Friday. It was possibly the most spontaneous and impulsive thing I’ve ever done, and I have absolutely 0 regrets about it!

We were lucky enough to be blessed with incredible weather while there, as Paris is somewhere I’ve always wanted to go, this was wonderful. I was expecting the Eiffel Tower to be the highlight of my trip, but I found myself falling in love with the small flower shops, with flowers spilling out into the street and brightening up the day.

Flower stalls on the side of the street is something I’ve never personally witnessed to this extent, and I loved it! Another highlight was the Arc De Triumph, which was surrounded by a roundabout that gave me road rage just looking at it! Architecture like this always amazes me, and additionally I was amazed that you could actually climb up inside the Arc itself. It was hard to recall a time that I felt more content than when I was sitting in the sun in the middle of Paris, admiring the beautiful creations and watching the people rush about doing their daily routine.

Living by the sea at home has made me automatically attracted to water, so naturally we had to take a few walks along the Seine (and yes, I was singing ‘Our last summer’ by Abba the entire time). I apologise for the spam of photos below, but even the best photographs cannot do the beauty of this place justice!

This was an incredible, once in a lifetime experience, and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I’ve been home for over a month and am currently planning the next trip!
